A few weeks ago, I had a whole regiment of ants swarming in my
kitchen, all over my oven. Apparently they loved the smell of my home
made beef jerky (can't say I blame them). Around the same time, there
were quite a number of ants in my pantry as well. I totally cleaned
out the oven, and all the racks inside. I couldn't find what they
were looking for in the pantry. Then I then went about bought (both)
these ant products:

Initially, the ants went beserk over these baits and liquid, and
brought in all their buddies.....whole swarms of them. Then after
about a week or so, there was not a single solitary ant in my pantry
or in/near my oven. Gone. Not a single rogue ant left.

Now, I'm getting "sporadic" groups of ants cruising all over my
kitchen sink and benchtops, but none whatsoever in my pantry or oven.
I'm not leaving any food out, or I've got no idea what the little rat
b*stards are looking for. More the point, they're not going near the
baits I've recently been using. Different types of ants perhaps?
They wised up that the baits were killing their nests? I dunno, I'm
just clutching at straws here, because I just can't get rid of this
latest batch of ants. I know for certain that Borax will sort them
out, but I need to know specifically:

- What sort of food bait should I use that will lure them? They're
not going for the Ant-Rid liquid or the Ant-Rid baits. Do they like
meat? Pet food? Specific types?
- For a given quantity/volume of food or liquid, how much Borax should
I add? If I add too much Borax, they may be repelled from the food.
Not enough Borax, and it might not do the job.

I want to use something that has a smell and flavour that will send
them beserk - the very best attractant I can use. I'd really
appreciate some specific advice, because I'm at war here.

we always had success with TERRO ant killer. it's borax or boric acid.
takes a day or two for results.
Worked for us.
